Out of curiosity, how are you mounting the brackets for the tail lights rear brackets? They don't look like they can bolt to anything close.

Those pieces of back strap in the above picture. I simply fired some screws into the fender. There is a hollow section where the storage tray slid into. I was going to install some threaded inserts but the weather was super nice. I know the screws will hold just fine.

Yeah I might do that eventually. I will probably make my tab longer throw some more holes in it to mount the plate.

That's what it looked like. Why not extend the bracket and use the rear tail mount?

Because of how I put that lip on the tail section to secure the light better. I was thinking at the time that a bracket from the sub frame wouldn't be strong enough to keep the light from colliding with the tail section in bumpy conditions. I don't want to use heavy gauge steel on it either. Trying to slowly shed pounds on this 500 lb monster. When I get around to it I'll have a bracket made of T6 that bolts to the rear at the existing tail section mounting holes. I'll make it so that the tail section hooks onto the light hooks, so there will be no movement between the light and the tail.

Bars are solved for now. Got the tank, tail, and sides sanded for painting.

Notice the many layers of paint! Even with 80grit and a DA still took alot of work to get down to the metal.

Very near future. next couple of weeks maybe sooner. Depends on the painters work load. I just need to pick my color of black and finish. Maybe satin? The bike is going to be mostly black. With some dark charcoal grey and gun metal accents. Tank, side covers, fenders will be black. The frame will most likely be a dark metallic gun metal. The motor mostly black with metallic grey covers. The exhaust will be gun metal and the headers wrapped or coated in ceramic. what ever I do with the rear swingarm I have decided to keep the dual shocks, but get some longer ones, with reservoirs. Maybe an inch or inch and a half lift in the rear. I want a pissed off looking stance. Imagine a mad cat backed into a corner. :)

Bought some black base coat. Goes in for painting on Monday or Tuesday. Side covers, tank, and the rear tail will be black with a pearl powder in the first clear coat. Going to reupholster/reshape my seat during the week.
