Well I got the front brake bled today. What I am not sure of is the amount of play in the lever, I have a video of the lever action to show you how much play there is until it applies full brake.

So I am guessing that I have too much play in the lever as seen in my video?

I do plan on getting a set of drag bars when money starts rolling in. Either those or the superbike bars as mentioned.

Good Project. I am new to this site and have started on the same project bike. i havean 81 kz650 csr. i picked this bike up for nothing, it would not run and was very rusty and scratched. cleaned the carbs, and it started right up, and seems t run good. i put a quick coat of paint on it to make it look a little better. so ar have put about 800 miles on it. i plan on putting a set of super bike bars on it and a good paint job. Any Suggestions for the bike would be great.

i should have taken a before picture. but it was the same color as yours.

Not too much progress lately, but I did decide on a color(s). Satin black with a cast aluminum powdercoated tank. I trial pained a rear set mount, and it turned out pretty well, so I cleaned and painted the front tire as well.

To explain why I have not had many updates, I started my new job this week, I work at the Hot Rod Shop of Fargo. Pics of what I have been busy with...a video too...

It's been a long time since my last update. So here it is. I got the bike running pretty decent, but found I need an accelerator pump rebuild kit as its leaking fuel. This may be the cause of my stumbling at low rpm, and maybe the cyl. 2 misfire as well.
So last night I ordered from z1....
Accelerator pump rebuild kit, tachometer seal, superbike bars, grips, grip glue, seat pins, side cover gromets, and probably some other things I'm forgetting. Scheduled delivery date is Friday.
I also need need to fix a huge exhaust leak at the cross over pipe. It's loud and probably causing a bad tune.
I also fixed my tank, I used a stud puller and pulled as much of the dent out as possible. A little bondo and It turned out good!
I will hopefully get pictures up soon. Any comments more than welcome

It has been a long time since I have been able to work on the bike, but lately I have been tearing into it. Right now, I have the carbs torn all the way apart and am soaking each in Berryman's Chem-Dip. This is some good stuff! Each carburetor is coming out looking like new. Number 2 was not firing, and not surprisingly, number 2 was the dirtiest of the 4. I hope this solves that issue. I finally ditched the ugly ass handlebars for some black drag bars. Must more comfortable and looks better too. Here are some pictures of the bike currently, and random carb shots. I am no photographer, and rarely remember to take pictures.

I ditched the vacuum petcock and went for a manual one. One thing that is making me nervous is regarding the tank. All around the left underside of the tank, it is wet/stained with fuel. Could the mating surface of the tank and petcock leak slowly and creep along the tank? The tank is in primer, only, does primer soak liquid? This is making me nervous as I do not want a leaky tank.

I have another question. With the drag bars, I cannot use the original turn signals, where could I find a set that maybe attaches to the forks, or the frame? Any pointers there would be appreciated.

Carbs:
Berrymans, good stuff!

Before

After (I realized I didnt take pictures of the bowls after, but they look great, trust me)

This is where I am at right now.
