Just getting started.
27 Mar 2011 23:18
Been working on this KZ750 for about three weeks now. I have actually bought two, in hopes of making one. Came to find out that the second one was in pretty good shape. After a redneck top end job, it runs. Not very well....but it runs. I'm in for an education on the carbs. It idles fine, but boggs badly when the throttle is snapped open. I have to ease into it to get it to rev.

looks like cv carbs on green bike.
if youre going to use those carbs id start with a good cleaning and check the rubber diaphragms really good for holes/tears

Those are the ones I'm using Wireman. I did exactly that. Couldn't see and holes or tears, and they def needed a good cleaning. I also pulled a "super stupid" and put one of the floats on upside down. Seems to run much better now.:pinch: Now it wants to idle too high. It will come down if I cover one carb with my hand. Need to get air filters on it. I think it's just getting too much air. That's what I'm hoping anyway.

Slapped the headlight and tach on it tonight. Not too sure about the headlight. It's kinda big. Still thinking.

Air filters and a muffler will improve the throttle response more than you can imagine! Make sure you have it jetted for your air filter/exhaust set up. Not jetting a bike properly can be catastrophic. Lean jetting=melted pistons. The bike looks good, keep it up.
