Never heard of that either. Look at those fork legs Jim. I don't remember any of the KZ forks having lower tubes like that...
So had to re-order fork seals after I got them apart last week. The new ones came in today!
So now I decided to refer to the manual for oil quantity and levels for the forks...
Now comes my next newby question... Why is the left fork oil level lower than the right fork??? From my disasembly I could see no differance between the two forks inside or out. Am I miss understanding something?
It says "left fork 120 +/- 2mm, right fork 149 +/- 2mm"

They're not KZ forks, they're ZX7 forks. I have done a few fork seal jobs on my old dirt bikes and I never had a set that the factory service manual gave me different levels per side? Strange no air assist or anything either...
Factory manual cant be wrong I suppose. On my way to put them in now...

Alright finally finished the fork seals Then I double checked my alignment of my wheel, it was off by about 1\16 of an inch. Now when I shoot the laser it seems to be right on with no offset? So from 25mm to 0mm???
I have come to the conclusion that I have no idea how to measure this accurately the way I'm doing it. Anyone out there have a method I can try?

Rear wheel may be aligned by assuring equal distance on both sides between centerline of swingarm pivot shaft and centerline of rear axle.
Line of sight along top of chain from rear sprocket to countershaft sprocket should show a straight chain with no jog leaving rear sprocket or mounting c/s sprocket.
Could use string pulled toward front from around rear tire to show directional parallels to sides of front tire when the front end is supposedly centered. (See following post.)
Good Fortune!

Well made a lot of progress in the last couple days! I sanded down all of my parts (even with air tools took about 9 hours)
Prepped, primed and wet sanded every thing going to my paint guy tomorrow. Maybe a week or so before I get them back
Got my new rear 34t sprocket installed also!

Dont know if it is something that can be bought somewhere... I got it from a mom and pop shop in Ft. Myers Fl. (grandpa's cycle) I would imagine these old timers made it themselves. All they have done for the last 30 yrs is build and drag kz's. Solid as a rock, perfect fit, nice extension and only $100!

Well I finally got a date out of my painter today At least another week before I get it all back
But because of the delay, he gave me something else to do. He told me to strip down one of my helmets and we would match it to the bike.
Been a little preoccupied anyway...
With this monster...
and...
found out yesterday we're having our first boy!!!
But all the more motivation to finish this before the new baby gets here!

P.O. added it. The pan looks stock and it has a sticker on it that says scotties canvas and covers Ft. Myers. Most definitely comfortable needs to be soft with no shocks
