picked up my bike was created by bushman8377
well friday night i picked up my bike, then all day yesterday spent working on it, pulled the carbs cleaned them, checked out the fuel petcock, put it back together and she started right up, she wasnt running the best , still full of "cob webs" but i took it for a ride arround the back roads near my parents, i get bout a mile and a half from their place and she dies, then i run the battery dead trying to restart, wasnt getting fuel, so then came the push part way and the walk back to get the truck and trailer. once back i pulled the tank checked fuel and vacume lines, all old and in need of replacement, i got her running again, but this time she would wind all the way to 10,000, :) still not getting the best vacume, but figured that out today, i put the lines on the wrong ports on the carbs, hooked one to # 1 carb, the other to # 4 carb, instead of the vacume rail locations between #1 n #2 and #3 n #4, ill have to get inventive to fix this because my hands are way to big to ever want to pull carbs and push thoes little rubber boots back in the air box, so if any one out there has a used set of four k&n filters im interested. and as promised here are some pics, ;)

I remember many walks home pushing my 550. About 6 yrs ago when I got my 550 I finally got it running and took it for a spin around the block (we lived in the country, each leg of the block being 1 mile long). I got back and thought, heck might as well go for another. It died the furthest away from home. Pushed it the whole way home while people drove by yelling "hey, ya need gas ya know!".

Fast forward 6 yrs, did the same thing about 1 month ago. Guess I'll never learn.

Nice 750 though. I have a '80 750 LTD. It's a really nice bike.

yeah out at my parents its the same way, the block being a square mile. i only pushed it about a half mile, down hill, lol the rest was up hill n i said forget that when the truck and trailer were right up the road, she needs some work but she is a good one, im not a fan of the ltd parts, but most of that i can change, lol i was looking for several weeks , missed out on a better condition 750 twin ltd, so when the price dropped on this one i jumped on it. is ur 80 a twin?

Is there a reason you would crank a stock KZ750 up to 10,000 RPM? Was this done while the bike was in neutral? Ed

i didnt actually crank it up that high, gave it a few quick blips on the throttle, it got about 9,000 or so, red line on my tack is 10,000 and i stayed below that. befor i fixed the vacume problem it would wrap out at about 6,500.

My 80 is a 4 cylinder. I don't do it too often, but if I wind mine up above 6k (mine redlines at 9.5, never usually go above 8.5) it really comes alive. Sometimes I feel like I could just skip 3rd or 4th gear.

I always wanted a twin. Either a nice one to restore or a crappy one to make into a bobber or some other kind of project. I was told by my buddy they are slow and heavy and I don't want one, but it seems like alot of people on these forums like them alot.
