The last time that I machined Ultem it was the amber colored stuff. I didn't realize they had a clear version.

I will do some calling around today and see if I can get ultem in clear sheets, again I am not sure about sheets but I have molded it clear before. It would be nice if I could get it in clear it would be perfect for this application.

Is it optically clear when molded or in sheet form?

We molded a oven safe bowl out of it a few years back I wouldnt say it was optical but it was as clear as any acrylic or lexan sheet and would surley work well for this project.

Well havent done any work on the kz in awhile been busy with work and projects around the house. But I did cut a ring out sometime back to make my stator cover window. So after moving it around on the welding table a few hundred times I couldnt take it anymore so this morning I cut the stator cover and fit the ring so it could be welded in. Now that it is welded I can grind and blend it to look like a one peice part, then I will machine a pocket and put in the screw holes for the window.

Ok so I have been wraped up in some other stuff for a while, But I havent forgotten about the old kaw plus as luck should have it a good friend of mine called me the other day a said he was coming to town to paint a couple of bike's and ask if the kz was ready ,so I ran out and ordered my paint and ,front fender I played with a few ideas with the front fender but when I seen the one Les has on his bike I new that was the look I was going for ( thanks Les). The only thing is I have to remove the R from the front and make something cool to replace it. The paint I am going with is a PPG Deltron Tri Coat it should look great when Paul does his magic, I cant wait
