I have a rear wheel from an 08 R6 that i am going to try to adapt to shaft drive by removing part of the hub, then welding on a machined adapter that will allow it to mate to the drive hub. The swingarm will not be a problem, that is a pretty straight forward endeavour. Getting a 6 inch wheel to work is another issue entirely, although i do have access to a CNC mill and someone that knows how to use it, so i think it is do-able. I would be happy if i could get a 160 series rear tire to fit in there, although a 180 or 190 would be badass!

the shaft housing and universal joint on this bike are dry, believe me, I have had it apart enough times to know. The swingarm in this bike actually does nothing to support the shaft itself, nor does it hold any lubrication. the drive unit is sealed where the input shaft is, and the output shaft on the tranny is sealed as well.
I will probably put off this prejct for the tim being, as it will keep the bike off of the road for a while,a nd I want to keep riding it
I did add a few things this weekend including left hand switch gear from an 08 r6, and well as an all new rearsets on both sides, also donated from an 08 r6.
New rear shock is next to replace the Showa unit, although that will take a little more doing as one end of the shock mount differently than what is on there now. I will post some pics.

Interesting to say the least
Years back I modified a PW50 Yamaha for flat track racing. One of the things changed was yanking the heavy drive shaft and making a much lighter shaft out of 3/8 socket extension. [NOT that you can do that]
If it were me wanting to go larger on the wheel, I'd be looking at the shaft as well. I wager your wheels are already spinning on that......
yeah right! i try not to ride in the rain if I can help it, not a pleasant time.
The rear shock is a Showa nitrogen unit off of a 2006 Ducati 999, fully adjustable for rebound/compression damping, and preload.
I would have to agree that the shorter rear end gives it a pretty mean look, now I just need to get some wider rubber on the rear. Not the easiest thing to do with a shaft drive bike. The plan is to eliminate the part of the swingarm that covers the drive shaft, and use 2 seperate pipes of a smaller diameter instead, one over the driveshaft, and one under, leaving the driveshaft exposed, which I think will look pretty cool. Something along these lines:

No clearnace problems running the 170/70-17 I have on there now. I thin i would like to be able to put a 160 series radial on there, which are readily available and realtively cheap. As far as the swing are in concerned, i think I am going to go with somthing a little less radical, and just notch the swing are on the driveshaft shise , where a larger tire would hit, and fill in the notch with a concave piece of plate, to kee it straucturally sound. That should give me the space I need to fit a 160 on there. Now all I would have to do is widen my 3.5 in rear wheel to accomoday a 160 series tire,
