KZ1000ST CAFE monoshock new rear end was created by greenmeany
I tried to edit my last thread and add osme pics, but it looks like there is no edit feature, so I started a new one.

Shortened the seat by about 6 inches and rearranged the electronics and tail light setup in an effort to make this bike look a bit smaller and not so tail heavy. Let me know what you think:

Well i certainly dont think it looks tail heavy.
if anything it looks tank heavy .LOL :laugh:

Looks fine to me aswell. Thats the first time I've seen anyone get that style of silencer to look good. The one little thing is that the tail light looks wrong to me.

Ask and ye shall receive. Some of these are prior to me shortening the seat. Bike still has dual exhaust on it and cateye tailight. Also, the swingarm isn't quite finished in these pics

Swingarm is modified stock. The tailpiece(seatpan) is made by Airtech

I like the shorter rear end. That bike looks mean. Nice work. I'm sure you probably said in you other thread, but where did the rear shock come from?

No puddles for you. That short rear will keep your back wet.

yeah right! i try not to ride in the rain if I can help it, not a pleasant time.

The rear shock is a Showa nitrogen unit off of a 2006 Ducati 999, fully adjustable for rebound/compression damping, and preload.

I would have to agree that the shorter rear end gives it a pretty mean look, now I just need to get some wider rubber on the rear. Not the easiest thing to do with a shaft drive bike. The plan is to eliminate the part of the swingarm that covers the drive shaft, and use 2 seperate pipes of a smaller diameter instead, one over the driveshaft, and one under, leaving the driveshaft exposed, which I think will look pretty cool. Something along these lines:

I have a rear wheel from an 08 R6 that i am going to try to adapt to shaft drive by removing part of the hub, then welding on a machined adapter that will allow it to mate to the drive hub. The swingarm will not be a problem, that is a pretty straight forward endeavour. Getting a 6 inch wheel to work is another issue entirely, although i do have access to a CNC mill and someone that knows how to use it, so i think it is do-able. I would be happy if i could get a 160 series rear tire to fit in there, although a 180 or 190 would be badass!
