Gas tank repair solder or epoxy

Hi guys ....so got a hole about an inch around by the front rubber mount and several pinholes...was going to use fine brass screen on the big one then just dab solder on the pinholes then seal tank with por 15 or some other product..But have read inline there are epoxys available for tank repairs anybody have any recomendations....Den

With as many holes as your tank has, you may be better off finding a rust free(er) tank to start with. Depending on what model bike you have, I'm sure you could find a decent tank for cheap- either eBay or a member hear. B)

Agreed. Unless you have some emotional attachment to this particular tank, I think you'd be better off finding a different tank.

Hey this bike already cost me 100 bucks plus another 30 for registration and another 14 for some plug wires what do you think money grows on trees ....no way I am paying for one from flea bay......and yes I am getting attached to this piece of crap... besides it wouldnt be original then...guess ill just have to solder it up and show you guys how we do things up here in canuckland.:lol: :laugh: :woohoo:

What model is this tank from? If a replacement would be readily available then I'd go for it. Otherwise, get out the solder and bondo and hope for the best!

Brazing would stick better than trying to solder steel. Check around with the welding shops and see what they say.

WOW :ohmy: I would first take a small ball peen hammer and go over the tank inch by inch to make sure there are no more holes or soon to be holes.
