OK, back on track wiht the 79 project. Today I painted the headlight bucket and tail light bracket so hopefully tomorrow I will install those items.

I had some new parts to install so I did that today also. New chain, sprocket and clutch cable.

Here is the new chain on the bike. It is a Parts Unlimited Tiawanese made non o-ring chain, similiar in quality to what originally came on the bike.

Today I also polished the sprocket cover, so I installed the sprocket cover, starter cover and shift lever. My box of parts is getting smaller!!

The orginal chain guard on the bike was cut in half when I got the bike. Found this one at the swap meet in Seymour WI last summer. It was dissapointing to hear that the swap is not taking place this year.

The stock chain guard on these 650s is probably the one part that just is not that pretty. None the less, I am glad to have found one in decent shape.

I had a poor looking black plastic Chain Guard on my bike when I got it. Cleaned it up real good and then applied a black "Plastic Compatible" paint from the local big-box hardware store. It looked like it just came out of the OEM package when finished so, I was very pleased with the results... just a thought.

Best of success, :)
Bill

Tonight I installed the taillight and rear directionals. The taillight bracket is painted a satin black. For some reason Kawasaki did not paint the bracket the same gloss black as the frame.

I had to get directional parts from 3 different parts bikes to come up with 4 nice directionals. They polished up nice.
