hey testa the steps are for a guy i work with that is a huge vintage boat aficionado.the boat is a century he told me the particulars but i don't remember he goes through a bunch of boats i think this one is in the 40's/50's.
i bought my old 1976 penn-yann tunnel drive from him several years back.
it is a ski boat with an inboard bluewater merc drivetrain.was 225hp reverse rotation 302ci.ford.i then updated to a stand alone electronic ignition and wired it up wrong and took it out and spun 4 and 8 rod bearings(due to firing way before top dead center).now it is almost finished it is a poked and stroked 347ci. ford with a cast steel knife edged crank 4340 h-beam rods and forged probe pistons, and ported heads.should be bulletproof, hopefully :) .

So THATS the boat your wife is threatening to cut my thoat over if I distract you from finishing it..... So even your wife has a need for speed that she is willing to kill to defend

I would love to make the GP, but I cannot commit at this time. If I were single I could do it in a heartbeat, but I have to play my cards just right to break away from the family for a while. Hopefully I can work it in this year.

I'm still trying to do it myself. Maybe we can make the routes work so I can meet up with you on the way (although my original thought was much further north). Keep me posted if you're heading out there or not.

You know what, if I'm going, I'd be willing to travel further north. I have driven to Cali on I-10. It's not fun. Long, flat, desert for 1000 miles, and in July, hot as hell. Are you thinking about riding there?

Now for my progress update tonight. I took down all the black painted parts and hung them back on the bike today. Here's the handlebar and controls.

I also got all the body panels block sanded. I love that 2K primer surfacer. That stuff covers everything, and it sands so easily. I mixed it up without the reducer so it is thicker like a spray filler. The biggest tip that I have for my HVLP is a 1.8mm tip. I wish that I would have had the 2.2mm. With the 1.8 it was difficult to get a good wet spray. It was a little dry so I got quite a bit of orange peel, but that sands out so easily. Thanks to porchev914's tip about using a guide coat, it was easy to see when I had all of the orange peel sanded flat.
