Here's some close ups of the frame bracing, welds are a bit poop in this, but I had them gone over before powder coating. Pics of frame powder coating to follow!

Looks good. That is similar to what I am doing with my XS Eleven tank. Glad to see it worked out.

I'm still liking the work. Don't worry about a little filler on the tank, I think every tank I have has some.

I imagine that was tig welded, right? I'm looking forward to doing this mod with my tank, but I'm lacking a tig welder..

Mig works as well. Thats what I used on my last one. Not as pretty, but that is what filler and sanding drums are for :).

Yes, it was tig welded. Unfortunately not by my hand!

(well probably fortunately really, cos if I'd done it it would have been a mess, I only ever did about 4 weeks of arc welding in my apprenticeship, and I wasn't very good at that! Have never done any gas, mig or tig. Suppose I ought to start eventually!)

Its useful working for a large engineering company, because there's usually someone who can do pretty much anything for a bike project!

I'm also new to filling, so this could be disastrous. Any recommendations for filler to use, I've been recommended U Pol One www.bodyshopwarehouse.co.uk/product/easy1
any good?

U-poll makes good stuff. I usually use a cheaper filler like Z-grip.

Body filler is body filler. It doesn't matter what brand you use.

I've generally used Bondo and had good results with it. I've also used the local store brand (Napa) and had good luck with it as well.

Here's a pic of the frame, now powder coated in silver (inc bracing bits), de lugged, with pillion peg mounts removed, turn signal mounts removed etc.

I've welded in studs to take the GSXR600 rearsets. They are spaced out from the frame with aerospace balancing washers! (used to balance parts of the Pegasus engine that goes in the Harrier!)

It has a ZR550 swingarm, that I had a buddy polish for me (I've since bought my own polishing kit, and am having pretty good results).

For info on how to fit the ZR550 swingarm see here kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...d=5&id=222082#222082

The shocks are ebay specials, they are Chinese piggy back shocks, that I think look the business, and at a tenth of the price of Ohlins, I don't think you can go far wrong!
