Thats 1 way to take some more weight off.B)
I had the same issue with mine. i chose to shim the cover out a bit. i put 3 washers around each of the 4 cover bolts. then i had to lengthen the shifter shaft a hair.
It worked but now mines heavier. lol.

76 KZ, frame gusset work,1200CC.Ported by Larry Cavanaugh, 1.5mm.over intakes, Carron Pipe, ZRX12 rear end, and seat,96zx9 front end.

Wow..well been out of town working for a while. Home for Christmas. ahhhhhh

So first thing i walk into the garage to check on things, and I got woman mess all over the place....ohbooyyyy.

Got Christmas box stuff and dog beds and pond parts, all over the perferct gearhead alter of speed.:ohmy:

Yikes, time to dig out.

Flying back and forth to Washington, not too good for progress.

Watching the winter Olympics, up there in the great white North instead of working on the bike. Reno got 2 feet of snow today. Cold.

we haven't had any snow for over a month and today it was 45 f so it looks like we are going to have an early spring thank god after last year.

Well progress has slowed, today I had a few hours and the rough edges of the countersprocket cover modification got the best of me.

So I took a file and blended the sharp edges into a radius, then sanded and polished them. Looks much nicer.
