OMG don, i think i just had a little accident in my pants.....lol Looking good so far, should look killer with that gs arm, and wheel you scored off ebay. Hopefully my z1 will be ready next year and we will be able to do that ride.

I'm hoping to have it all done by spring. So far we haven't had any snow and it was warm today. The first thing I need to do is get a couple of chain gouges welded up on the arm and then put the new bearings in it. I also need new shocks for it and washers to use as spacers then it's in. I'm thinking about sending the wheel to Buchanons to have it put together. I'll have them lace with new spokes and true it up. I'm still debating powdercoating the hub black to match the rim. It would look sweet with polished spokes. But if I do that I'll want to get new wheel bearings and also have to do the same to the front wheel. Oh well it's only money right? :(

I tried aircraft stripper on it to try and get the coating off without luck. Not sure what to do now. Maybe have it soda blasted?

Might check with Eastwood and see as I recall them having a "strip any coating" type chemical for sale. Said to take off chrome, powders, etc.

I got the rim stripped today and now I need to get to work on the hub. I'll drop them off at the powder coater. The swingarm is still all messed up. I'll have to call a blaster and see if they can strip it. The rim turned out pretty good. I'll post pics later. Now I'm off to Moscow Idaho to pick up a bike for my son. Some Ninja something or other.

DTKG: Niiiiiiiiiice lookin' ride. And I'l jump on the 'we-need-more-photos' bandwagon and beg for more. We just like your bike, man. On chrome, the way to get it off is to dip it in muratic acid, problem is that produces cianide gas...ooopsy...a process best left to the pros.

On Beer: In Kansas we don't have to worry about it freezing b/c we don't store it...we DRINK IT!!! :) just kiddin'...somewhat...

LMAO! I only store it when I have too much of it to drink---which is VERY rare! Lookin' good, Don. I haven't been around all that much in recent years, but as I remember that scoot of yours always looked pretty effin' sweet. Maybe post up some pics of the swingarm you're tryin' to clean up...might help with the 'how-to' tips. BTW---MORE PICS, DAMNIT!

Here is a pic of the rear rim with all the red paint stripped off. Now I need to do the hub and then have them powdercoated black. I also need to have the swingarm welded a little bit. The gouges probably won't hurt but I will feel better if they are filled up.

Woops too much light. Still a little red paint on it.

All cleaned up and ready for powdercoat.

A little welding and she is good to go.

Ok I got the swingarm on. Man that was not as fun as I thought it would be!
I had to cut about four inches off the inner fender.

A handfull of washers used as spacers. You can see two thin ones and a thick one.

I had to grind about half of the bolt head off.

And it's done.
