valvesprung, that's a pretty bike you got there. Any plans for rearsets? I highly recommend them if you're going for a lower handlebar, even a superbike bend.

What did you guys do for rearsets? Fab your own? Sportbike? I have clubmans and I'm still using the stock position, I find it comfortable but would like to get rearsets down the road.

I have '04 GSXR600 rearsets on my '78 650.
My '78 C model had the one bolt mount front footpegs, as did '77 B & C models.
D model 650s came with two bolt mount front pegs.
On the 650s with the two bolt mounts, you can swap the mounts left side to right and vice versa.
The pegs need to be swapped back to their right side if I remember correctly.
This will move the pegs further back.
You will need to shorten your brake lever, and rig up a gear changer set up.

I have Clubman bars, and rode for a few years with a stock peg positon.
It seemed fine.
I then switched to the GSXR pegs and like the feel of them.
It moved the pegs back about 5~6 inches:

Thansk rstnick, great pics. Doesn't look too bad of an install. To mount, you just needed to drill two holes on each side?
Also, you are using the rear master cylinder from the GSXR? Pretty neat. Any particular year GSXR?

If your pegs are a two bolt mount, mounting aftermaket rearsets would be different than mine.
On my install, I just drilled the two holes on each side, and needed to grind the stock M/C mount for clearance.
They are '04 GSXR600 mounts with blue aftermarket pegs. Similar ZX, YZ and other year GXSR set ups could work.
I used the GSXR MC and brake light switch.
Here's a link to a post with some different rearset set ups:

Cycle Metrics rocks if anyone in the Portland area needs help. While it was there he also totally readjusted the carbs, lubed all of the cables, adjusted the front brake after replacement, adjusted the clutch (which included straightening the bent clutch lever), replaced the turn signal flasher with on that works with my smaller lights, and redid several sections of wiring that needed attention, all this for the price he'd quoted for the stator/charging system repair!
With cold wet roads I only got out for a brief ride, but it was heaven. This bike has never ridden this well in any aspect. The new bars were perfect, the power was great, the bloody turn signals worked...I wasn't worried about it dying...it was a good f@#king day my friends...a good day indeed...
All that is left is some fresh paint on the new stator cover, a new battery, and a full tank of fresh gas and she'll be road worthy at the first sign of sun...
