Yeah, it looks pretty extreme but I rode it around with that much drop before I tore it all down and I never got any wobble or twitchiness. The turn in felt great, and I could even let go of the grips on a straight.

It's from a 1982 GPz750. I'm glad you like the shape, that's all bondo! I got the tank for $21.50 on ebay, started stripping the nasty paint off and found lots of bondo underneath, so I had to take that off to inspect the metal. I found several pinholes, braze welded them, then started putting new bondo on.

I'm waiting for the time when I hit a bump and this huge slab of bondo falls off...

The bike is looking great. I really think you shouldn't sleep, eat or pee until the bike is finished! Seriously, you have great project going. Did you have to modify the tank to fit the frame other than devising a way to attach the rear of the tank?

Nope, just had to find a way to bolt the back end down. I'd thought about using an angled piece of steel, but then the idea of bolting it to the subframe hit me.

How do I embed a youtube video here?

It'll only run on starting fluid, so it's just for a second. Fuel is getting to the float bowls, but not to the combustion chambers, so I need to look inside them again.

My gas tank is also leaking where I braze welded the pinholes. I'll have to patch it with some epoxy while I find another GPz tank.

MRE? Meal, Ready-to-Eat? Master of Religious Education?

I'm very glad to hear that little bit of life, it tells me that the engine is mechanically sound, that I have the timing correct, that I don't have bent valves or any of that mess, and that my ignition is working.

NO ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS! (At least not yet...)

I realize that I still have a LOT of work to do before it's on the road, like I still have glass, bondo, paint, and wiring to do on that seat, and have to cut the foam pad for it. At some point I'll want to switch to Dzus fasteners to affix the seat to the frame, but for now I'll have to put up with the bolts and hope that the foam pad is thick enough to keep them from eating my ass...

Nice to hear that engine sound!
As you say, it seems to work! Both mechanical and electrical.

But do you need to find an another gastank? Epoxy it, and thats it!

Looks good, and you know the value of nice pictures! :cheer:

Laying out the rear lighting subharness:

The plan is to glass in all the wires and leave a pigtail with the connector where I can tuck it away.

Fitting the bits up, making sure everything cohabits parsimoniously:

Looks like I'll need to bend the tag up a bit. Any of y'all ever get hassled for that?
