So I've been pondering how best to shape the neoprene foam for my seat cushion, so I made a hot wire foam cutter:

It worked, though not great. The guitar string is nickel steel, which is better than plain steel, but it still sags when it heats up. I need to get a piece of nichrome wire, like what you find in a space heater.

Since that was a dead end, at least for now, I went back to shaping by abrasive means:

I made a "ball gutter" by folding the cushion in half, then running it along the belt sander.

Tonight, I'll attach the tail lights and wire them up.
Tomorrow I'll start tuning the carbs & ignition, maybe ride it around the yard.

Nice job guitargeek!! Last time I checked this thread I thought you were only doing engine work. Now I see this. :) This was very enjoyable reading, although it caused me to be very late for work yesterday, after reading the whole thing again. Keep up the good work.

Nice!

Like the fastening details for the seat, really clever.:cheer:

Are you actually using the bike now? Since the registration plate is on place?

Yeah, I highly recommend the captive self-ejecting Dzus fasteners for applications like this. Now I won't have bolts jabbing me in the arse.

I've gotten it to start, briefly.

Now begins the tuning process...

Why do you look so pissed off in the image?
You should be excited about where this project is...

Wait a minute, re-read your last reply and now I know....

Your bike looks great , It reminds of something I would do ,, Your engine ? it really does not look bad at all , I would have used Dupli Color aluminum spray piant on it or painted it black then sanded the cooling fin edges ,, Keep up the good work :)
