77' 1000 project
07 Feb 2008 20:12
I bought this bike in a fairly ugly state.
Here it is after I disassembled the whole works and did some paint work and put about 8,000 miles on it.
Now it's getting the full treatment, for the frame I'm going to powdercoat once I have all my tabs fitted for z1 side covers.
For the engine I have a 73 z1 crankshaft, 1075 piston kit and a "J" head ready to go, I just have to bore the jugs and install the crank.
I've already fit a gs1100e swingarm, z1 tail and light and yes the extra ride height is on purpose(I dont like low bikes).
Here she is now, pardon the ugly tank its for mock up use only.
Just for those folk's who cant have enough bike pics.

Got the side covers mounted today, The position had to be altered a little to accommodate the bs34/pods, it looks better in person.
And a pic of the swingarm/brake. Now with proper sized rotor (had ltd rotor witch was to small in diameter).

i800phyco,
Nice ride. I'm currently making a Z1 clone out of a KZ900. Was wondering how you altered the frame tabs to fit the Z1 side covers? I planned to alter a pair of aftermarket side covers to fit the KZ frame unless it isn't possible. I really don't want to cut the frame. Got any pics?
