Beautiful work and coming along so nicely. Great job. Would you do me, and maybe some of the others, a favor and psot some detailed pics of the mono shock swingarm mods? I want to do the same thing and really am not to sure how to go about it and good pics from someone who did it(and did a good job) would be most helpful.

Thanks.

I like the bend of the bars. They look really good and will tend to set this bike even further out from the crowd. Keep'm you can color them to suit your taste.

Awesome job bro .. i like the way the engine came out. In the outside pics it almost looks dark gray. Is it or is that the lighting? It almost makes me want to paint mine dark gray!

It is hard to come up with wicked engine colors that are not black or unpainted.

Outstanding work. Keep the bars til you're done, then "...if thine eye offends thee, pluck it..." and paint 'em black. But I think you'll love the ride-control they deliver.

Oh, I'm in the "how'd you do it" group of single-shock wanna-bees also. Please show details of 'how'. Thanks!

I thought i would post some pics of the monoshock conversion. First of all i would like to say i had never done this before but felt up to the task. I first took some measurements in the stock set-up. Measurements from a fixed point on the rear of the frame down to the rear axle. Three measurements, One with no rider. One with me sitting on the bike. The third one, on the centerstand. I bought a Ninja 250 swingarm, shock and linkage off ebay for cheap! Turns out the shock was bad and later replaced it with a shock from a Suzuki SV650(another ebay find:P ). I then made a temporary bracket for the upper shock mount that was adjustable. I clamped it to the frame with some clamps. Once i was happy with the position i took some dimensions of the upper shock mount position. I did a lot of measuring to try get it close the numbers i had with the twin shocks. I put the rear end a little higher than the stock settings. I welded the bottom mount in position, put it all together and it seems real good! I don't want to get too proud yet because i haven't even rode it yet:woohoo:

My pictures are not real good and i'm not much for adding text and things to pics. Hopefully it makes sense:unsure:

I used 3/4 square tubing, 1/8 wall thickness

The bike is looking great so far. How long is that Ninja swingarm from the center of the pivot to the center of the axle slot? That looks like the perfect length from the photos.
Thanks!

FWIW: You should try to stick to the original angles associated with the bike that the shock and rear end came off of.... moreso the shock.

When you have a monoshock the arms act as levers. Setting it up to get it and the angling and such of a twin shock setup will yield in handling that isnt optimum usually.

On a KZ you won't likely notice, but just something to think about.

Looks great! :)
