so for the last few weeks ive been looking at the busa front end.

problems.

1 most ppl push out the old stem and insert the kz one with a bushing taking up the slack, i on the other hand didnt want to go this path for 2 main reasons.

kz has a bolt and a big ass washer going down through the stem to lock the upper tree down. i didn't like the look i much preferred the busa big ass nut.

second i didn't want to use a busa wheel wanted to use my dymags that are on bike now so that i still can use a speedo drive and not have to go to a magnetic speedo setup.

solution was i have hooked up with a guy by pure accident who sells busa racing triple trees and he is making me a billet tree setup based on the busa one he sells but modified the stem making is narrower and longer like the stock kz one and a custom front axle.

so enough waffling on i guess you want to see pics right?

Nice hardware. The deep oil pan was a score. Funny how you find a solution to your criterion, by chance, regarding the triple tree.

Is this the set for your bike? Planning to black them out?

im more into the raw billet look to be honest,
in fact im thinking of cleaning off motor back to raw metal too plus everything i have painted with high temp paint has lasted 2 mins once hot lol.
wife say's it will give me more to polish too which she say's i spend more time polishing bits of ally on my bike than riding it lol.

That billett tree rules; great score! Also, I have a deep sump oil pan with a custom oil pump tube to go with and there is no way in the world I would part with it for a bill. You did waaaay good. I usually find them when they pop up on the bay and watch them just to see "what" they are bringing. An Egli version went for about $250 (I think) a few months back and yours looked similar...just not Egli 'red'. Nope, looks like you got yourself a couple of great scores...well done!

Just a thought: I hate polish and chrome; billet is 'racey' to me and I like that; black always rules. I have a friend that bead blasted his motor and then powder-coated it clear; it's got that raw slate-gray metal look ... sort of sand cast-ish ... and he never has to do anything but wash it off. Pretty cool.

i like bolt on goodies they make life less complicated lol.

i will still have to bolt on busa rotors in the right offset for calipers no biggie there.

and center front wheel on new axle when it arrives and cut some spacers both these are minor concerns.

the hard thing was the tree's and now that's not going to be hard at all, not quite sure what to do with ignition though im thinking on installing a remote starter so no need for ignition and key not sure if this will work but it sure will keep the race look around trees clean looking.

i have also been thinking of clear coating all the billet
sounds like a good idea to do engine too.

i may just buy a cop motor to go in there dump the gpz1170 on the bench for the winter.
