Kano,
THANK YOU!
I have really enjoyed this thread, especially the pictures of your progress! Please, please keep us updated with this brake mod.
I had wanted to change my gas cap the way you did before I saw your pictures and after seeing them it just confirmed how I want it to look.
I also want to upgrade my brakes so anything that you can post would be much appreciated!
Btw, if you have any other pictures of your before and after gas cap/tank mod and how you did it, I would love to see more!
Thanks!

i didn't get to take any pic's of the fuel cap change but i can go through it for you.
i bought a zx tank on e bay that was so beaten up no one wanted it,
with a grinder i cut out a big square around cap flange. then i trimmed back the sheet metal so all i had was the collar that the billet cap sat in.
you will need to cut 2 pipes that run through the tank connected to the underside of the collar these are overflow drain (this is so any fuel that doesn't go in the tank doesn't sit in the flange it will just run back into tank via this drain hole)and breather so you dont get a fuel lock.
now i later found out the drain need to be cut completely off and the breather keep as long as you can otherwise when you go around corners at a good clip they act like a water level and gas comes out of the overflow pipe.
on my tank i had a raised section through the middle of the tank after cutting out the new hole i used a dolly and panel hammer to get this as flat as possible.
tack weld it in in 4 or 6 places (after flushing tan out with water to get rid of fuel vapors) let tank cool dont try to weld it all in one sitting you will warp tank, slow and easy let tank cool in between welding when ever it gets hot.
once this is done grind off excessive weld and look for pin holes if none are visible you should b good.
on my tank i had to creative and sculpt around the filler cap as to make it look nice and thats it.
doesn't cost much to do but can be very time consuming but time is cheap when its yours and not someone else's right!
