Hello people,

My name is Gordon and everyone calls me Popeye, my first ever brand new bike was a 1984 GT750P3 shaft drive tourer. During the intervening years I have had brief love affairs with all sorts of 650-1100cc motorcycles of varying brands, quality and performance, the only common thread being a return to air cooled KZ750 engined motorcycles.

I am now the proud owner of a fourth P3 GT750 with number 3 for spares and another engine in bits under a bench. This bike has a ways to go before it reaches it's former glory in the looks department and the dreaded starter clutch changeout being the only mechanical gremlin left.

Looking forward to reading and contributing where I can

The KZ500 behind mine was my girlfriends ride til a few weeks ago, she sold it (and a 79 GSX750 and a 76 Goldwing) to buy her 93 VX800 Suzi.

The frame had a coat of silver on the downtubes to prevent rust where the previous owner had covered the thing with brake fluid.

The kid who bought the 500 has already stripped it, repainted the frame, glassbeaded the engine and coated it and is well on the way to turning it into a very nice ride, I will try to get him in here and show it off when he is finished.

Always thought it unusual that Kawasaki did not offer it's most versatile motorcycle in the worlds most diverse market. They sold the GT750 and 550 new in some markets until 1997.

Yeah, too bad...but I'm afraid North America has been on a long down-hill spiral driven by V-twins (and the Hardly Dangerous mentality)...I see no improvement in the forseeable future:(

no sign of anything different here, a dealer is not going to get rich selling chrome or carbon fibre to someone who is happy with the size of their other head.

My GT currently has only a Pipeline 4-1 system, home made inlet trumpets (gave up on trying to find off the shelf single filters that would still give me a smooth transition of power right up the scale), 120 main jets and a set of IKON 3 spring/4 rebound rear shocks, everything else is stock.
