Me! (And my "new" 1974 Kawasaki KZ400)

23 Apr 2024 15:17 - 23 Apr 2024 15:43
#898031
Howdy all! After several unsuccessful attempts to post on different topics, I FINALLY read David's email directing me to introduce myself first. Admittedly, I was deadset on purchasing a 1970s Honda CB, but after dealing with multiple clown sellers on Craigslist and Facebook, I spotted an adorable 1974 KZ400 just 30 min. from my home, and ended up coming home with - and loving - it. Owing to my use of the adjective "adorable", you may have guessed (correctly), that I am a female. Additionally, this is my first bike with a manual clutch (I have two Honda CTs, a 110 and a 90). I know embarrassingly little about all things mechanical, but am terribly eager to learn. Therefore, I apologize in advance for all the dumb questions I will be posting in future, and also thank you in advance for your patience and assistance. I look forward to meeting y'all!
Cheers,
Coran

Welcome to the fun.  There are many members here that are happy to help you.  And no such thing as a dumb question.  (unless it's the 3rd or 4th time you've asked it)

Hi Dave, I'm quite certain I replied to you, but I'm not entirely certain as to WHERE I did so - lol. Already making great use of the forum - thank you so much for your (multiple) reminders to get my intro done!

TexasKZ, howdy! So you believed that "helpless female" bit, eh? I'll let you in on a little secret: any airhead questions originating from my account are mere red herrings. I employ this ruse frequently with my dad and (five!) brothers. Turns out, I have insane grease-monkey skillz,  OK, sadly this is not the case - just yet - but I shall one day live down that whole "should I oil my sqeaky brakes " debacle - I swear it!

Nope. Every stupid question I can remember being posted here was posted by a guy.
