New to site as I'm debating to buy a older bike. Looking at 78 kz650 or 83 gpz550. Gpz is mint cond new tires brakes fork seals and more. Kz650 has new seat muffler fork seals and more. Needs new rear tire and start gear needs replace as only starts with kicker. 1500 for kz and 1750 for gpz. Opinions pros cons on either. Like both bikes

If the GPz is mint I'd go that way. Both are great bikes. The GPz has a more laid out riding position so you gotta be okay with that.

Go with the gpz for sure . The 83 is pretty much sit up . Didnt change to the more forward control and bigger fairing till 84 . I have 2 83 and they are great bikes with not much to go wrong if maintained properly .

The kz 650 is a nice ride too . But if the gpz is ready to go really cant go wrong .
Gpz 750 turbo The one I ride
Gpz 750 turbo Not finished
Gpz 750 turbo Not started
Gpz 550 1981
Gpz 550 1983
Bunch of other junk

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHow about a new-in-crate ZR550? The seller also as a 550 Ltd in the crate.

Replacing the starter clutch is a decent sized job. I don't know what your mechanical inclination is but i would say its a few hours worth of work for someone who knows these bikes. definitely not a beginner task unless you like a challenge
