Just bought a real junker kz1000
28 Feb 2018 16:43 - 28 Feb 2018 16:50
Hey yall!
I made an impulse purchase of an 82 Kz1000 CSR
This was the photo on the add. only $400! Looks pretty clean I know! But when i got there, it was a mess. Oil leaks from every crevice, cables are held in with rubber bands and various other ties or wraps, the rear brake is disconnected for some reason, everything is rusted to shit, the left side of the tank has a massive dent in it, for some reason its missing the top cap nuts on both sides of the rear suspension, the front forks feel like they bottom out from a low speed stop, and the man i purchased it from was clearly drunk at 8am. But ill be damned if it didnt start right up and , iguess in that moment, it was good enough for me.
This is not my first KZ, i bought an 82 kz750 as my first bike abut 12 years ago but I only got to ride it once because that ride ended with me going through my neighbors garage door. I had to sell it to fix my neighbors garage. That was also my first attempt to ride, with no previous instruction.
So here i am again, with a much crappier kz but excited to get to know it. I am a seasoned rider by now and have a handful successively larger projects under my belt and looking to add to that chain. I have done some top end work on most of my old bikes but havnt really ventured any further. I intend to do a full engine rebuild on this guy. Looking forward to being part of the community during the project! i have learned so much from forums on my previous projects!
Here is a pic of my cx500 from last year, a $300 impulse purchase last January.
Takes a lot to make those things look cool.

Can you post the pics here. I don't go to unknown sites to view them.
