New Member From British Columbia With A '77 KZ1000
18 Oct 2017 15:47
Hello to all. New member here with a 1977 KZ1000A1 that I've owned since '79. I used it in Vancouver, where I bought it, as my daily driver from '79 to '86, then stored it for 30 years. Last year my 16 year old son started riding, so I cleaned it up, had the top end done and became his mentor for his Learner's permit. I've put just over 5000 km on it since the rebuild and am now at just over 65,000 km. Man it feels good to ride again!
Back in the saddle and loving it! KZ1000A1

Welcome to the site. Nice 1000. I always liked that black with gold pinstripe version. Where in BC are you, I get out there from time to time?

Here is a club closer to home. Mostly older gumps like you and me. We will be at the bike show in Abbotsford next month.

Greetings! As hardrock has suggested, I encourage you to join up to the BCCMCC forum as well. Another Kawasaki guy would be most welcome there, they love us on that site! Where are you in BC? I'm located in Chase, between Kamloops and Salmon Arm.
I would rather wake up in the middle of nowhere than in any city on earth.

Hi Glenn
I am not in B.C., I am near Toronto but get out there on occasion for work.I haven't strayed too far from Burnaby other than The Island several times and a bit of the Sunshine Coast. I want to get to Kelowna soon as well as Whistler where we do a lot of work. If i return in warmer weather I want to hook up with Coast Steve who is near Sechelt and ride. i will look into the other forum also as you just can't get enough Kawasaki!

Congrats on being back at it!
Beautiful riding country in BC...
Lower mainland area is great riding as are the mountains...rose my 82 up through the Pass a few times last season..gonma do Lethbridge to Nelson this summer.
See in your Sig Kawboy that you are in Burlington!!
I still own a home in Brant Hills just south of 5...my family is up Cedar Springs way...
The escarpment is still my all time favorite place to ride in all of Canada...used to ride from Burlington to Rockwood every day from the time the snow was barely melted until it came again...alot of years didn't even insure my car in the summer. Damn I miss that area!
Cheers!

Hey there KGKZ1K, nice to have you on the site. I live in the southeast end of town near the lake but have a close friend who lives just north of 5 on the east side of Cedar Springs Road. We drive most Sundays up through there past Kilbride to Campbelleville, have breakfast then break out for a ride from there. A restaurant in Rockwood is now becoming popular as our regular hangout closed down a year ago November. Going to be busy if I ever get back west with all the folks I want to ride with but getting wheels out there would be tricky.
Keep in touch and hope the winter passes quickly.
