Greetings, I'm a seasoned rider who is starting a bit of a project that will fit in well with this group of enthusiasts and your knowledge base.
I'm resurrecting a Z1A that has been in storage for about 30 years.

Welcome aboard! Take a look at the info in the link below. Be sure to read the warning about the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) screws vs. Phillips screws before you start working on the bike. Ed

Here she is, next weekend all the extra "comfort" parts are being removed to go back to a stock seat.
The bike has been my Dad's since 1974; I literally grew up riding on this bike with him, so to say it is special is an understatement.
It was stock except for a 4-1 exhaust when he bought it, and that is the way I am returning it to.
He had it painted the metallic black laquar, so that will remain it's color.

Nice. I bought a stock style seat from Z1E. It was too hard on long rides so I got a used LTD seat and put that on a old seat pan. My backside thanks me for it every ride.

650ED, nice info on the JIS tips, very well illustrated, THANKS! I have many years of mechanic experience and also learned about the variety or "phillips & similar" during aircraft mechanic school. But I will be making modified tips today to use on this and other vintage bikes.

SWest, I have been planning to buy one of those reproduction seats.... I don't plan on long rides. Is your seat for sale?
