Ok guys (and girls) I apologize for the horribleness of the original post. Autocorrect is a bastard and does not like me.

I'll try and do better in the future!

There seems to be several KPZ owners frequent this site. I have one that's new to me (2002) and so far I love it. I'm new to Kawasaki's and multi cylinders so it's been a challenge.

Finding the correct factory manual and supplement has still been a mystery to me. I have some but I'm still not sure they are correct.....you'll see what I'm talking about when you start your search....that is unless you got lucky and they came with the bike. This site has an online copy of the owners manual that I found to be helpful.

Auto correct????????? Geeze my spelling is so bad sometimes autocorrect just says...........huh??????

Yours in a nice clean example.

Take care, Gordon in NC

AHHH a real computer and not that tiny Galaxy Screen!

Ok so here are my plans for the bike:

Because i work in a emergency equipment shop, i have nearly unfettered access to LED and so my plan is to do a 100% Halogen to LED conversion of all lighting. That should take a ton of amperage drain off the bike and lessen the electrical load. I dont like the dimming of lights when i use a turn signal or the rear hazards. I'm replacing all the round turn signals with more modern ones, adding some Aux brake lights and turn signals to the rear. i have this really neat product that can produce two seperate color LED out of one housing so i'll have lights that function as both brake (red) and turns (amber).

Also I may be using the bike as a part time Funeral escort, so i'll have some blinkies (amber, blue, and green with some flashing white) and a siren.

Also i plan on either doing a vinyl wrap on the bike or repainting it. I dont much like White, and its much too Coppish for my taste. and i dont want to get confused with the local PD's who run Motors, so im going with either a matte black or blue. maybe red, hell i dont know i'm open for suggestions there.

I'm about to give the bike a good seafoam treatment, this is my first venture into a carb'ed bike, so any hints on that would be greatly appreciated

Hmm i think thats about it for now.

Welcome to KZR. As Gordon says there are quite a few KZP owners here with bikes completely stock bikes to wildly modded and everything in between.
If it starts easy, comes off choke quickly and idles well your carbs are probably fine. Most of the problems that come from sitting or neglect will impact the bottom end performance. If it pulls well and doesn't leak move on to something else important like brakes and suspension.
These are great bikes and really fun to ride but you'll learn what the cop bike curse is

c7....I'm not going to pretend I know anything about these KZPs.... but bikes in general...i've been around since 1968

Those light you're talking about sound really neat and sounds like a really good upgrade...........BUT ( I'm full of those)

One of the reasons I got my KZP is that they were equipped with a higher output alt and I want to attach a side car on mine and add some extra electrical bits.

Think about it......these bikes had a LOT of police gear on them that needed power......I'm assuming most of the police stuff has been stripped off your bike????? If so.......I'd be trying to find out WHY your lights dim.....I don't think that could be considered normal????

Just saying........take care and we'll see ya down the road.....Gordon in NC

You're probably right I need to get the electrical system looked at. It has NO equipment on it (yet)

I rode it around the block today and it was dying at idle. So I need to get my buddy look at it.

Shouldn't take your buddy long with a good meter to figure out what's going on......probably something simple and it's all fixable.

Stalling could be a number of things but really....that's not all that hard to figure out too.

Hang in there, there's ALWAYS something to sort out on a new to you bike.... its just part of the journey.

KZP owners club????? Kinda like AA....shoulders to lean on and like souls to share the grief. Just a thought.

Yeah I'm bout 99.44% sure I got a crap battery. So knowing how some motorcycles are that one FIX will solve about 15 other issues. While causing another 12 to rear their ugly heads.

I'm enjoying it emmensly though. But I can't really ride it much. I dont have my M yet and don't really want to get stopped by the fuzz. I have enough to worry bout to add a hefty fine to it.

Anybody make a digital gauge package for the kzp?
