Hey there everyone :)

I bought a 94 KZP last July off the local Police Dept. The bike runs like a champ but has 23 years of lot rot as they only put 30k miles on it. For now I only ride it once a month but expect to have it up to spec in another six months or so. I've already gone through the fuel system, vacuum system, replaced all of the leaking O-rings, and sadly had to rewire the entire bike.

Still runs great though :)

Hello and welcome

Very nice Cop bike, i wish i can get a bike like your´s here in Germany.
I am a great fan of the Chips TV series.
Police here drive only BMW bikes.
Keep it original as much as possible and good luck with your project.

Welcome. There are a few of us rocking the cop bikes.
They are great fun in the twisties and pretty comfortable for long distances in stock trim.
What are you plans?

The plan is to refurbish the KZP not restore it. I average 30k a year commuting to and from work on my Honda Shadow and can fly up to 50 square feet of sail (flags) when I attend a PGR event such as a funeral escort or memorial service. I want to set up the KZP with flag mounts like I have on the Honda and use it as the primary flag bike and occasional backup bike.

I bought the KZP via online auction and was able to ride it home but the only lights that worked were the running lights. Once I got it home I flipped the seat up and discovered that they neglected to tell me about the electrical fire under the seat so I spent the next two weeks rewiring the bike end to end. The wiring didn't come out as clean as I wanted so I'll build a better harness down the road but for now it's good.

I've serviced the bike, replaced the air box outlets, carburetor mounts, fuel valve, fuel hoses, vacuum hoses, seals on the generator cover, cam shaft tensioner cover, and will replace the seals for the oil pressure sending unit and valve cover as soon as I find time to do the well needed valve job. After that it's a new rear tire, bearings, rotor, and brake pads which are already on order. Then it's the front end and saddle bags. LOL

By the end of the year I expect to have it "refurbished" and be ready to add flag mounts.
