New member from New Zealand with hand-me-down Z750
26 Oct 2016 13:54 - 26 Oct 2016 13:56
I bought member Rustyhama's Z750E. I had one way-back, so when I saw the advertisement for Rustyhama's nostalgia got the better of me and I bought it. I am grateful to him for resurrecting it from a barn, tidying it up and getting it back into service..
The bike was/is in good overall condition - apart from the starter clutch which, although worked, made horrible squawk and grinding noises, to the point I would cringe every time it hit the starter button. I have now repaired it and have some comments and tips stemming from that that I will put in a separate post. The other work I have done is to paint the tank matt black - which completed the job Rusty had started by painting the bodywork/plastics and front mudguard. I also installed a new 4 into 1 exhaust (made locally) and replaced the overly stiff Koni shocks that were on it with new Hagons.
Here's a current picture of it.

Welcome, and nice bike.
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

Good work getting the rest sorted. I know Rustyhama and noted that the engine purred. So congratulations, sounds like you got a great bike. Welcome back into the fold.
