New guy with a 750 Twin
18 Aug 2016 16:47
Registered a few days ago finally getting around to introducing myself.
My name is Ryan, just recently separated from the Marine Corps, after 9 years of service, and relocated by to Texas. I was given a '78 KZ750 Twin by my step father and currently in the process of stripping it down for a hard tail. I have learned so much about my bike just from lurking in the shadows and reading, really hoping to be able to utilize all the knowledge that is available on this site. The picture that i have added is the state of tear down when it was given to me, my step father had a cafe racer plan for it.
Thank you for your time, Ryan

Welcome and thank you for your service. I'd think twice about the hard tail though. These bikes handle very well. Good for extended rides too. Can't say that for a hard tail.

Do you realize that making it a hardtail will totally ruin the bike's handling? :S Unless you really do not plan to ever ride it making it a hardtail is a REALLY bad idea. Of course if you plan to just sit back and look at it (like so many guys who want to own a bike simply for bragging rights) you could even put square wheels on it and it wouldn't matter. Ed
