Now I feel worse, I suppose the only blessing is that I like my work and its normal hours so I don't lose sleep at night (apart from when I need to travel for work). But there are times I would like to just stay in bed when I feel like it or better still ride when I feel like to where-ever I want.

First Permanent ride the Z1R since Dec1977 (220,000km) as of June 2015
Second permanent bike 1989 FJ1200 dyno'd 140RWH, great bike.
Third ride is now the Frankenstein 1981 GPZ1100B1, 1983 fully recon motor fitted LOVE THIS BIKE
Forth my work bike FJ1200 1989 (same type as FJ above)

Crap, do people in the US retire at 50????. Here in Oz for me its 66, I'm flat out designing a zimmer frame with Z1R main stand. I've decided to go all out and add LED lights.

It's not all it's cracked up to be. When I was raising my children I was working all the time. Once I was left alone work dried up too. Then the recession. I wound up in the hospital in 11 got out and still tried to work. Can't do it like I use to. I miss the cash flow and being "semi" retired consists of boredom. Good thing I don't have a mortgage hanging over my head. The bike keeps me young and looking forward to the next day. B)

Guess it all depends on your situation.I never intended or thought about being retired, once I healed, life was great. My sons are grown and have been on their own, have good jobs and play in several bands which do well for part time outfits. As for me,I fill my time doing what I want, fishing, riding, working on amps and tube gear and guitars,I got a wood shop in the shed out back, the wife still works because she wants to.People often ask,"but dont you get bored"? My answer is simple,"if I do,I take a nap"Sometimes I just take my buddy,Hank,a coonhound and just go down the road and sit by the creek all day and think about how lucky I am.

Looks like we are all in the same boat 50 to 60+ , I know I'm getting old when my son passes me on his M/bike on the way/ back from/ to work (he works in the same place in a different department - IT). The only concern I have is that both my daughter (yes she also rides bikes) and son are talking about the Z1R like its their bike - ALREADY, crap.
I'll make sure I'm buried with the ignition keys.

I'll be 55 when I retire with a full pension. Not a bad deal after 30 plus years but I will be glad to get out of my corporate gig and do something interesting for a change.

I'm 67 and still working in my own shop, just not as long hours as I used to. I find myself working on the yard 4 -6 hours a day though. :(

I live near Portland, Oregon and my rider is a '76 KZ900 I bought new. I'm also in the process of restoring another one and a '73 Z1.
