New old guy
11 Jul 2016 18:29
Hi all, like the title says I'm new to this site, but an old guy.A little background.I began riding in 1971 at age 15.I've owned many bikes over the years,a couple of Kaws,a Z1,H2 ,KZ650 all back in the '70's.I've had Hondas,Yammies,HD etc, etc, along the way.So anyway I just came into a 1980 KZ 1000 Ltd .I havent owned a Kaw since about 1983 and have come full cycle and am back to what I now know is the type of bike I've always wanted.Just picked up the KZ yesterday and am looking forward to using it for a long time to come.I havent rode in 3 yrs due to getting hit head on when I was on my most recent bike,a Harley FXD,bike was totalled and I had 3 surgeries on my left hand, elbow and shoulder,I would have been fine if the fingers on my left hand didnt get caught by the mirror stem.Anyways,I'm back on the road and couldnt be happier.Living upstate NY now, moved here from NYC last year, retired and looking forward to tearing up some country roads and meeting all the cops in the county, lol.

Crap, do people in the US retire at 50????. Here in Oz for me its 66, I'm flat out designing a zimmer frame with Z1R main stand. I've decided to go all out and add LED lights.

If you're lucky or smart enough, to have a pension after 20 years on the job, you can retire and still be young enough to work at the things you love like bikes. I'm taking my SS this year at 62. I did the math like my mother did and it makes sense. She died at 71. She sold her business and got to see the world. I hope to have more time than that but one never knows. I just want to ride my bike as long as I can and enjoy my grandchildren. Maybe even take a northern cross country trip via Canada along the way. Who knows?
