I just picked up a '78 KZ 200 to get my son into wrenching a little. I've been off a bike since he was born 14 years ago, and this little KZ is a far cry from my last road-going bike, an RC51, but it will fun to work with him on it!

Welcome, it is great that you are passing on the passion of wrenching, got to love that. I have family up your way...not too sure how close you are to Barbeau area, great place to visit. You sure have harsh winters your way.

Welcome halmic...welcome to KZR. The KZ200 is a neat motorcycle...and a rare motorcycle as a survivor. Some parts may be difficult to source.

There might be one at Sam's Cycles in pieces the last time I was there. I tried to take clips of his bone yard but the cam Screwed up again. I'll drop by there and try again. Might be worth picking up.

They sold a lot of them overseas. In some areas they are known as "Binter Merzy"; it may be an Indonesian name for them. Ed

Nice little bike. I'll know it when I see it. This one's blue.

Pics!

It seems mostly complete, and the goal is a little cafe racer style bike after I can get it to simply run and drive. What is the parts commonality btxt the 200 and the larger models? Can I run a capacitor to eliminate the battery on this model? And if i can which one?
Thanks!
