Hi all,

I thought seeing as I've been lurking here for a while it'd be only right to introduce myself and my project bike. A 1980 Z650 B3

It's in pretty good condition overall but it does need a couple of things sorting before I can MOT it and get it on the road. My intention is to build it into a Cafe Racer. I've been wanting to build one for years and when this bike came up for sale locally I went for it.

So it's got a pair of Lester wheels on it which are in really good condition apart from the rear drum has a bit of a pulsation on it but I want to replace those with original spoked wheels anyway. (if anyones in the market for the Lesters let me know ;))

I'm still working on getting it running well, cleaned the carbs and rejetted for pods (I know) but I'm just waiting for some new coils to turn up because the old ones were knackered.

Anyhow, I'm probably going to be asking a lot of questions as I go.

Heres a couple of pics of the bike as it is at the moment:

Hello, TheNinj, and WELCOME to KZr! :cheer:

The drum brake Lester may be surprisingly valuable, so be sure to do your homework and check on ebay before deciding on a selling price.

Good Fortune! :)

Welcome. Too bad you're not closer. I'd love to have the Lesters.

Welcome aboard! You stated the bike is a "1980 Z650 B3." There's no such bike. The KZ650-B3 is the 1979 model. Ed

Cheers all!

Yes it must be the 1979 model year but it was registered in 1980, the vin number matches the B3 designation.

I've taken a few pics of the Lester wheels if anyones interested. I don't really know that much about them other than people say they are quite valuable, theres some on eBay for around the £475 mark (not sure if they're the same as these though) These are in pretty good condition.

Hi 9er rider, they're 19 inch front and 18 rear. Not sure of the widths, I think they're the same size as standard wheels. The tyres are 100/90/19 front and 110/90/18 at the rear if that helps?

Also I'd be keeping the brakes and possibly the spacers etc depending on what I get with the spoked wheels I've just bought.

western Colorado 81520. Flat as a pancake all the way through to denver, after denver there is this big bump, then its west of the divide and beyond that I think is more interesting than little house on the pr airy and tornadoes.

Ok, I'm not sure how much it would be to ship them but let me know if you really want them and I'll try and get a cost for shipping. I'll be probably putting them on Ebay in the next week or two otherwise.
