Welcome from East Tennessee!! :woohoo:
I have had a couple LTD's myself! Great Bikes! You will find a lot of knowledgeable and friendly folks on here!!
Back in 1973, I was stationed at Port Austin AFS in Northern Michigan, I think it was at the "tip of the thumb", was an isolated early warning radar site. 60 guys in the middle of nowhere! Lets just say, copious amounts of alcohol were consumed!! LOL Best I can recall....."Bay City" was the closest city of any size?
Had a good friend that lived between Port Austin and Bad Axe, his name was Chet, cant even remember his last name been so long, but Chet was from Kentucky originally the best I recall and married a local girl while stationed there and stayed when he got out of USAF, Chet was a "Harley Guy" had a bright Yellow Panhead best I recall B) , sorry for rambling on, I often wonder if Chet is still around?? Long shot I know , but sooner or later maybe I'll run across someone who knows if he's still alive.
Sorry to ramble incessantly, again Welcome!!
Ed

Have 1975 Kawasaki Z1-B & 2003 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic
Had Hondas, Harleys and many ,many Z Series Kaws both Std. & LTD's

I seem to remember that happened to me once. Can't remember specifically the cause, but I think I had forgotten to install one of the collars (spacer) back on. Or in the wrong position. Good luck.

Sounds like spacer is installed wrong. Take a look at the link below for a diagram. Ed
