With the single carb setups you always seem to lose somehing, either low end driveability and torque or top end power, with a smaller displacement bike you don't have much of either to spare, that and I havent seen many who have successfully done the swap AND been happy with the results. I would either stick with the stock carbs or get a smaller (yes, smaller) mechanical slide carb like a vm24 or 26 and stay with the multicarb setup

Yeah, most of them are abandoned.

As for the carb, It has pods on it and no longer has the stock air box. And from what I have read on here it sounds like a nightmare to dial in the stock carbs with pods. And I don't plan on running an air box if I Cafe or Street Tracker it. I would at least try to get it running with the stock carbs, but they are nasty, Need a rebuild kit, and the inake boots that connect to the cylinder fell apart getting the carb off.

From what I have read guys seem to like the single carb set up. Still reading and researching it. But I don't really want to dump money into the stock set-up, if it is not what I want down the road any ways.

However all this could change since I don't have the funds to do anything with it right now. It will all have to wait until after the holidays. So any and all input and advice is very welcome as I am still very much in the research and learning phase.

Carb and choke spray should clean that up. Looks like the PO used adhesive on the gaskets. That can be a good sign. If he was that stupid, he may not have had it running at all. You might be able to fix a few mistakes and have a good running bike.

Carb kit? Most I have EVER used on 99% of bike carbs is a float bowl gasket, the brass and all that crap in the vast majority of carb kits is worthless a good soaking, some brass cleaner and some elbow grease should be able to clean most carbs, if your needles look fine a couple bowl gaskets should be the only real expense

Any easy DIY for the boots between carbs and Cylinder?

Mine are cracked and in pretty poor shape. Previous owner had lots of black silicone on them. Mayne fab something else up myself and soak the carbs good and give it a try.

Also any recommendations for a coil and plug wires?

I had some issues with the stock carb boots on one of my 440s. I decided to do a 2 to 1 conversion with a vm34. It took a lot of research and some trial and error; but it turned out to be a really fun bike. The low end is great, he tops out around 95mph, which is fine with me. The manual says top speed is something like 107 so not bad considering the bike is coming up on 35 years old. Currently my daily driver while my 750 is getting new gaskets and what not.
