Hi from Belgium - KZ750 & KZ700

Hi all,

After reading some of the topics on the forum, I wanted to join the conversations so I just logged in. I'm 32 yrs old and live in Belgium. In my spare time I like to work on my motorcycles and ride them of course.

My latest projects have been a Suzuki GS450 cafe racer and a Honda CB750 Bol d'Or cafe racer. I managed to sell them for a little profit and went looking for a new project bike. That's when I stumbled upon not one but two good looking Kawa's; a KZ750 and A KZ700. I managed to buy both bikes for just 1.600 EUR. Basically, I bought one and got one for free ;)

The KZ750 is in a very good shape and runs perfectly. The bike looks complete and is still in it's original state. For now, I will keep this one in it's original state and just enjoy the ride.

The KZ700 has been standing still for a few years and will need some TLC, but I hope to have it running again soon. This bike will get a complete makeover and will become my wife's bike.

I hope to get some tips and tricks from this forum and I'll be putting a build thread on here as well so you can follow the progress on this next project.

Here are some pics of the beauties:

Welcome. Good deal. Is that a water tower in the background? Look forward to your build.

It's a part of an old factory. I believe it was some kind of mill. This is the only part of the building which is still standing.
It is currently being renovated. This would make a very cool house I think

Welcome to KZR! I wonder how that KZ700 found its' way to Europe? That was a USA only model, I believe.

Great looking bikes, the last of the Kawasaki's I really liked in the day, I never felt the same enthusiasm once the Unitrack models came out. Really remind me of the Z1000J I had in 1982.

Welcome.
Nice pair you found there.
I've always liked the paint schemes on them.

Thanks for the welcome :)

@Lacher, We should meet some day, after the bikes are ready to go back on the road.

I bought both bikes from a guy who imported the bikes from the Netherlands, but I have no idea how the KZ700 entered Europe. I knew it was an American model, but that's all the info I have.
It would be nice to find out the history of the bike, but I think that's impossible...
