Having the key where you can't see it is a mistake IMO. If it falls out and they do eventually, you'll never find them. As for help, I'd be willing to give advice on the engine, carbs etc. What it looks like is your business. My new neighbor said he wanted to buy the 550, didn't come up with the rest of the money when he said he would so I sold it to someone else. He bought a Vulcan with the key down there. He lost them twice and took it back. As far as I'm concerned, he's a tire kicker. He may have gotten his money back from the other seller but lost the deposit he left with me. The way I look at it, if I gave him his deposit back even though we had a deal and didn't list it for two weeks, There would be a line all the way to Dillon road because West is easy. The guy that bought it handed me the money, test rode it and thanked me for his bike. Once he got it home, what he did with it is his business. I doubt he will hack it up just add to it. It was a nice bike.
The problem with Bobbers is, a lot of them don't get finished and that's the shame of it.

If you do it well, You'll get my respect.

Nothing like 3/4" foam on a piece of sheet metal and clip on handle bars.
A lot of work went in to this one.
$1500, and you can be bobbin in no time!

That's actually not half bad looking (for bobber fighters) and I'm sure the more economical route than buying an original and customizing away.

For the ignition switch,I know the old Honda CB500 had it mounted on the frame below the tank. You might be able to find an old one of those. There is a big market in CB restoration so you might even be able to find a new repro one.
Forward controls,I dont know. Probably look around the breakers for a set off an old cruiser. Plenty to choose from.
Make sure to post plenty of photos. Its good for yourself to see the progress and to check how something fitted together. it also makes for a good read.
Good luck with your build.
P.S.
Dont be put off by the puritan fringe here. It seems to have become a regular thing. Some sort of initiation it would seem.
There are plenty of people here though ready to help and give positive advice.

I would tell you to blow it out your ass but you already have

I always took it as being humor. Some appreciate it, some don't. Not enough to be insulted over it.
