New member saying Hi
02 Sep 2015 07:30 - 02 Sep 2015 07:33
I recently acquired an 82 GPZ550 and have been on this site before reading info regarding carbs on this bike and just joined up today. I thought I would say Hello to all. I may be a newb to your forum but am a member on some other motorcycle forums.
This is my first Kawasaki and I just love this thing
The only plans I have for it are to bring her back to her former glory with a new paint job, replace a couple of missing/broken pieces (like the tail light), basically a resto job
I have a few other rides but they are all Honda's
Here is my GPZ
Sorry its sideways.......dont know why that happened

Welcome to KZR...very cool paint job. That is the 'Sonic Gold' option for the 1982 model...it may not have been available in the USA but certainly was in Canada (the other gold GPz550's I'm aware of were all from Canada). Interestingly, the Canadian 1982 GPz750 was also available in Sonic Gold (in addition to the common Firecracker Red). However, the 1982 GPz1100 was available in Sonic Gold only in Australia and Europe.

Thanks Steve
And yes, its the sonic gold which is a pain in the rear to find a paint code for.........so if anyone knows it and would like to share it, that would be awesome.
Its a low mileage bike, only 16,000 KM on the bike and pretty original
The only thing that was wrong with the bike, was a hesitation when taking off in first gear. I just thought it needed a cleaning/rebuild on the carbs, so i took them off and disassembled them and into the ultra sonic they went, thats when I noticed that someone was already into the carbs before and forgot to put back the needle jet for cylinder #3.........dumb asses
Once I got the resolved, it runs smooth. I also went ahead and replaced the clutch springs then adjusted the clutch, swapped out the fork springs for progressives but i think I will just end up getting some springs from Racetech and their emulators.

You're welcome. It almost looks silver. Pic of your CB Honda? Almost bought one.
