I just bought a 77 kz 650. Fella I bought it from said carbs needed cleaning and a new battery, I took the carbs off and cleaned them. Put them back on and it was stilling running like shit ie; sputtering at idle and stalling when I twisted the throttle fast. So now I find myself here. It would appear I shall be here for some time. Thanks for letting me in.
So new member here. I just bought a running 77 kz650.

Welcome!!!!

Some advice, go to the carburetor section of the forum, and read probably the entire first page, each post go into it and read, absorb....

It's probably in your pilot circuit, so once you find the post by Patton that shows "cleaning carbs with carb spray" , where it tells you which spots to plug with your fingers and spray cleaner thru, try that....

Also, what is the make and model of your carbs? 2 or 4 cylinder bike?

Guitar string for the pilots or wire brush strand.

The 1977 KZ650 is a 4 cylinder bike. If it has the original carbs they are Mikuni VM24SS carbs.

Does the bike have the stock airbox and air filter installed? Are the vacuum caps on the sync ports on the carb holders? Ed
