Back after a long spell

I don't plan on restoring her right now, just want to ride her and enjoy. I put a lot of the scraps on her riding when I was a teen as well as a few friends that wanted to learn to ride. Plus patina looks cool!

Great Job, a friend of mine had a Z200 back when I was in school in England in the 70's, we used to ride all over the place, I and another friend had CB175's, there was his Z200 and another guy had a CZ175. My fondest memory of the KZ200 was all racing back from a dance we'd been to about 10 miles away, the Z200 got left behind, by the CB175's, anyhow we raced up through the streets of the old market town where he lived, no one wanting to back off, it came to a T just in front of the old Market Hall, I got there first and stopped, I forget the order after that, but as others were pulling up, the Z200 carrying too much speed in a desperate attempt to close the gap and not come last, burst past us jumped up the curb and hit the front of the Jewelry store that lay ahead. Luckily it didn't have a window that went to the ground, so his wheel hit the wall, not the glass or we'd all have been arrested for a Jewelry heist. Can never see or hear of a KZ200 with out that replaying in my head. Great days, great memories, what would I give to have a chance to get my Honda CB175 back, I've never owned a bike that provided so much fun. You can't get those carefree days of your youth back, riding just for the fun of riding, either by yourself or with friends, the pure pleasure of being your own man and going where you wanted coupled with the exhilaration of being on a motorcycle.

I doubt the old CB would seem much fun now almost 40 years later, you can't muster that having had many big bikes since those days. With my increase in weight it would likely be a real slug, but just to ride it one time would be unreal, I have a feeling the old girl went to the scrap yard not to long after I sold her in 1978 to get my CB500. Did I mention I'm envious?

650ed, I was grinning ear to ear when I backed it off my stepdad's truck, grime and all and not running. Having it roadworthy again is just icing on the big cake.

congrats to you for getting reunited with your Kz again, I understand the excitement as I sold my last one in 1991 and have waited patiently to get another.

On your list of repairs, I did not notice new rear brake shoes. You may want to do this as the adhesive that holds the material onto the metal shoes deteriorates with time and could let go while you are riding and lock up the rear wheel. That actually happened to a member here.

Great start. I'd ride the Hell out of it.

Oh I plan on that when the weather warms up a bit more. My slightly older bones don't like the cold so much now.

My next mod is going to be replacing the right engine cover. The current cover doesn't have a kickstarter provision like my original engine did. I found a Kawasaki three wheeler cover on eBay that does have the provision so as soon as my gasket kit gets here I'm swappin' it over.

I like this style cover better anyway, much easier to change oil filter.

Is the inside set up for the kick start ratchet, spring and gear?
