Hello from Austin
29 May 2015 17:35
Hi all! Just bought a pair of 1981 KZ1100A's. I'm gonna try to make one of em work. This will be my first motorcycle project so I'm sure I will have alot of questions along the way. Looking forward to meeting you guys.

Welcome, you are in the right place for questions!!
So the old Rocker gets out his bike to make a ton before he takes his leave. Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner
just like it used to be. And as he flies --- tears in his eyes ---
his wind-whipped words echo the final take and he hits the trunk road doing around 120 with no room left to brake.

Thanks for the warm welcome, here are the pix I owe:
The VIN #'s on the bikes are very close together and they appear to be all stock. The parts bike was dropped at least once and has a damaged alternator cover. The fuse box on the parts bike also looks pretty burnt up. The "good" bike is the one that is all primered in white. It has a dyna S ignition system installed and I was told by PO that it has sat 2 years because both the stator and starter went bad. Both bikes are missing their starters and batteries and they both have questionable charging systems. I have only one stock airbox and one exhaust system but I think I have 2 of everything else (lots of parts are in boxes and not pictured).

yep, I have the tanks but I can only open one of them right now. There are a dozen keyholes on this project: 2 ignition switches, 2 center stands, 2 seat locks, 2 tank locks, 2 locks that open the side cases, and 2 locks that mount the side cases. I pulled the ignition switch out of the better bike & had my locksmith make me a key. I was hoping that one key would knock out 8 of the 12 locks because it was from the bike with the cases. The key only works for that one ignition switch and one tank. I've found the key code for the other ignition switch and will get another key made on Monday. Hopefully the second key will fit more than 2 keyholes. Only the two ignition switches have keycodes stamped on them, I don't see any numbers on any of the other locks.
