Howdy From Texas

Howdy.

I'm an Aussie living in Austin, Tx and I just bought my first four-stroke.
I spent my youth tinkering with horrible british cars back home in Australia - Range Rovers and Triumphs, as well as a couple of suzuki kei vans and yamaha two-strokes.
I'm a medium competency backyard hack, but I love getting the wrenches out, and afgter 15 years i've finally learned to be patient, careful and thorough.

So i just got hold of a 1980 kz750 LTD with 28k miles, and I'm excited. It sounds great, goes alright and seems to be in 85% good nick. There are a few cosmetic bits and pieces that could do with a tidy up. There is also definitely some mechanical work that needs doing to get it running at its best, so i anticipate asking a thousand questions in the near future.

I already put on a new chain and sprockets since the original looked like nasty shark fins, and already found some super helpful info here about the 630 to 530 conversion - which i did. I also just got hold of a factory airbox to replace the P.O.'s cheap garbage pod conversion (without a re-jetting, i suspect), which I'll be installing as soon as i get the new boots.

Anyway. Hello to everyone here and if any of y'all are in central Texas, I'm always up for a ride.

Johnny

Nice bike. My uncle Elpe had a chicken ranch in Fort Worth. Had me clean out the coops. I hate CHICKENS. I like to eat them though. He had a shot gun with a flashlight taped to it and would go out at night to shoot the wolves. I was rooting for the wolves.
welcome aboard.

Welcome!!
So the old Rocker gets out his bike to make a ton before he takes his leave. Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner
just like it used to be. And as he flies --- tears in his eyes ---
his wind-whipped words echo the final take and he hits the trunk road doing around 120 with no room left to brake.
