I'm hoping for at most for a 750, and that size only if it's a great deal. Even though that wreck was almost 13 years ago,I still remember how messed up that bike was when we pulled it out of the ditch. I simply don't trust myself with that much power is all.

I started on a Sears All State in the early 70's. Bought a CB 350 in 73. Rode bigger bikes off and on until I bought my Z1 in 75.

My first moped was a JC Penny Pinto that I pulled out of a demolished building. Took me a whole year of finding and fabbing parts.

As for limitations, I realized I need something more after my two mopeds were stolen. Designed to go 20, I got them up to 39 and 43 mph. I just realized I was doing something dangerous when I could be doing something much more safe and reliable.

Looks to me you can handle anything. It's not the bike that kills, it's the rider that gets killed. Sounds like you know what you want.

OP, welcome and hopefully we can find you something to fit the bill...

You may want to find a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) or other reputable training course. Assuming you're still active duty, it will be required to ride on base. There are many that provide the bikes for the course. Check with local dealers, the base MP's, transportation office, education center or nearby Community Colleges. They'll also provide advice on selecting the right bike. There's typically a waiting list, so get signed up now.

While I'm glad to welcome any new rider, the streets are not the safest place to learn. You need to have some basic riding skills before venturing out with texting soccer moms in SUV's.

And towards rider, you are absolutely correct. I have already began the search for the courses necessary, and a friend out on long island is going to give me a hand learning on his Rebel 250 in a stadium parking lot. My spring break is coming up, so I'm gonna be spending a week with him.
