I'm picking up a 1978 kz750b tomorrow. It's been sitting a few years in a barn. I plan on getting it going and riding it for the summer. I wanna make it a street tracker one day any one know were I could find some parts to help me do that? Looking for the seat, bars, back fender and a high-pipe exhaust. And I'll post up some pics when I get the bike home

Ruff, ruff. Got a kink in my neck looking at it. Were you laying down? Did you get the side covers with it? Looks like it's all there. I'd put some Marvel Mystery oil in the cylinders, let soak, then turn it over by hand to free everything up. God knows what kind of critters have moved in there. Like a treasure hunt, you don't know what you'll come up with. Fun to see. Pics, more pics.

I had a 350 Honda when I was 19. The KZ 750 didn't come out until after I bought my Z1. The KZ 750 was a good machine but it did have it's problems. Get some good spray lube and hit anything that should turn. Pull the carbs and inspect the float bowels. Use spray carb cleaner but don't get any on the diaphragms up top. Carb cleaner attacks rubber or plastic. Make sure the slides move up and down freely. Don't take the tops off unless you need to. You'll break the seal. There is a large opening at the top back of the intake side of the carb. Push up the slide with your finger, hold your thumb over the opening and see if the slide falls slowly or quickly. If it drops fast, the diaphragms are shot and it won't run for SHT. Get a battery. Useless to do anything without one. Cheap insurance.
Good luck and post some pics of your progress.

Thank you I will do that I'm letting it sit for a few days to see if it will free up. I'm gonna replace all the basics plugs, wires, points and do an oil change. Hopfully I can get it going soon.
