New to world of Kawasaki-adding green to stable
27 Jan 2015 15:44
Hi, I like to introduce myself.
I've added green to my stable by picking up a 92 KZ1000P.
I just bought the bike and had time to remove the flashing lights and controllers etc and also removed all police emblems which was easier then I thought. Now the bike is in the shop getting a though going over and getting it ready for the spring.
This I hope will be a good second bike.
Here's a pic of the bike on the trailer going to the shop.

As they are being retired, the parts become more plentiful. The stock set up is a good touring bike.

I've been eye balling these bikes for a while.
I plan on make a trailer hitch for it so I can use my Unigo on one up trips.

I would have probably left it together minus the decals of course. Those lights make it cool. Who was it that lives down in the Grafton area that I road with River Road and Steve , Michael Weid and those guys? We were ripping down those roads like maniacs and he put the sirens and lights on. I know, I know...still a hoot.

My plans at this time is to get the bike prepped for inspection and registration. Then, I will slowly restore it at the same time I'm riding it.
I took a trip a number of years ago to Deals Gap and I meet a couple of guys that take four days vacations and they ride DG and the Blue Ridge Parkway well, I meet them at a stop sign and they invited me to stop and have breakfast with them and to join them afterwards to ride DG and the BRP so I joined them. Had a good time.
One of the guys said he bought a KZP from Canada that was all apart in a box so he put together the bike and it was awesome. These guys know the area and were fast riders to say the least, I lost them along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
As I was rounding a curve on the parkway I noticed in my mirror a black and white bike pulling out of the bushes, my heart stopped beating for a minute. Moments later the bike flies by and the guy is waving to me. I hate that guy with the KZP.LOL
Anyway, restoring this bike will be a nice hobby and past time.

Mahalo for that. Have the rear fender and front on order. Then a Thruxton style flyscreen. Las will be the hideous rear seat. I have a better one that works with the police saddle. The saddle stays....did I say this thing flys??? :silly:

In 75 nothing could come close. When the CHP got them I was worried. Didn't last long, too heavy. Motorola? Now that's another story.
