Hey guys I'm lookin right now for tires for the KZ 900 the only thing stopping me from doing some riding. I looked at the speed demons, spitfires, Dunlop 404's. Not sure I came across the Pirelli MT66 I really like the way it looks seems like it would look pretty good on the bike any feed back would be greatly apprecieted thank you.. you all been great

FWIW...I REALLY like my Avon Roadriders...Haven't dragged a knee yet, but I have gotten close a few times! Nice, sticky tires

+1 on the Avon Road Riders. Sticky and last a long time.
I had the Dunlop 404 on my Z1. They seemed to look more period correct for some reason.
But I replaced them with a cheap set of Shinko 712s and could not believe how much better the grip is on the Shinkos. It gives you much more confidence going into turns. I believe the Avons are an upgrade on the Shinkos.

I was gonna get the shinko's but I figured they were to cheap and wouldn't be that good. Front and rear tires for 118.00 I believe in you get what you pay for. I decided to take 650ED advise.I purchased the Pirelli speed demons 120/90-18 & 100/90-19. They are awesome look and fit perfect.didnt get to push them yet do to my state Cali. Since the bike has not been registered since 1988 I have to go to my CHP office and get all the numbers verified before I can get it registered and insured.

Grumpy ol Artist,
I like the seat. Where'd you get it?
I would like the change the seat I have on my LTD, to a lower sleek cafe style like yours, but I have worries about the frame and seat pan shape. Did you use the original seat pan? My frame goes up at an angle in the very back section there, so i'm not so sure a real flat seat will work. Do you know if or which KZ frames are the same or similar back there?
Thanks.

11 Apr 2014 16:25not sure if your talking about my seat if you are it's the original seat for the 1976 kz900 A4. Was a perfect original seat till my son sat on it with his belt on backwards And put a tiny hole in it.RiderRandy wrote: Grumpy ol Artist,

Naw, I will just pm grumpy.
I certainly dig your ride though. Looks to me very similar style to a triple. You'd probably be able to find a new stock seat no problem. I'm trying to change my seat, which is this big two seater thing, to something smaller.
Thanks,
RR
Edit: wasn't hijacking this thread. Great discussion on tires. Im running the bridgstone spitfire 130/90 rear. Tried to get a quality road tire and fits fine. No complaints but I just started riding. Total newb.

All good, I was gonna try the 130/90-18 but was told it gets pretty tight back there and a 120/90-18 will do just fine. The stock rim is not wide enough to put the 130/90-18 to its full potential I was told.

Hey guys, got alittle delemma finally ready to get my kz on the road all legal now. Got it running killer put new sport demons on it. Last thing to do is pull the front calipers and rebuild them upon doing it found out the left side line fitting to the caliper had stripped threads. So I got one on ebay. As I was putting on the right side I noticed the bracket mounting holes with the counter sink was the same as the left. Is there a right side bracket? Guy on ebay said it was a right side one but the calipers are the same. Any info would be greatly apprecieted I wanna ride this weekend.thanks
