Hi from the UK
16 Mar 2014 10:56
Hi all, new member here from East Sussex, England. New to Kawasaki too, just started tidying up a 1980 Z550 LTD C1.
Previous rebuilds have involved 2x CB650's and an XJ600 but this is my first bike from the big K stable.
Pics will follow (I'll start a project thread) but this will be a rolling restoration, tidying here and there as I feel like it. The other bikes were serious rebuilds that spent more time on the bench than on the road; I'm not going down that path this time. This one's for riding!
Currently I'm replacing steering head bearings and getting it to run smooth (prepare for some carb questions!).
As for me, I design electric and hybrid vehicles, and have a project to build the worlds quickest electric drag bike but I'll tell you more about that in another thread.

Welcome aboard! The first link below has some info that may be helpful. It sounds like you probably already know most of it. BUT, at least take a look at the second link below regarding JIS screws. I don't know if the other bike brands use them, but using JIS screwdriver tips (rather than Phillips) on KZ's will save much heartburn. Ed

Hi Ed, thanks for the welcome and the tips. I've not come across the JIS screws before so that's very welcome info.
Cheers, Phil
