Hi all,

Got my motorcycle license a little while ago, started looking for a good starter bike at that point... My criteria were pretty simple: cheap, old, and already beat up. I wanted something on which I could learn bike mechanics, something I wouldn't be heartbroken over laying down (it is my first bike, and statistically it'll go down at some point whether I'm on it or not), and something that wasn't rare or worth restoring to original condition.

Stumbled on this ad, knew I had a winner.

Got in touch with the owner, agreed upon a redneck trade (the motorcycle for a shotgun), and met up, made it happen. Loaded the bike up in my buddy's truck and headed home.

I intend to make a thread in the projects section to go in more details, but figured a smart first post would be here :) So there you have it, new owner of a 1983 KZ550 LTD, checking in.

Welcome aboard, sounds like you did good.
1980 KZ1000 LTD-B4(MK II engine) - Progressive suspension, MTC pistons, Dynojet Stage III, all wear items replaced, WFO paint scheme(1978), etc..

Past bikes- 2 1976 Kz900's, 5 1975-76 Honda CB750's, Honda 500 -4, Honda 250, Honda 125, Honda 100, Suzuki RM 250, Honda XL350, Kawasaki KLR 650, etc..

Welcome! Great trade on the bike. Can't wait to see your project thread. Lots of helpful info here. I will get this out of the way now. Buy a service manual. They are worh every penny. Good luck on the build.
